Smyrna & Cassaba Railway, Turkey

Turkish railway constructed by an English company in 1864-1865 with a concession from the Ottoman Government. The first section of the line opened in 1866. The railway operation was transferred in 1893 to a new French company, the "Société Ottomane du Chemin de fer de Smyrne-Cassaba et Prolongements" (SCP), which was in taken over in 1934 when Turkey nationalised the railways, forming the Turkish State Railways.
