Born on 31st January 1858 in Huddersfield George Crosland Taylor would begin working at his father’s mill at the age of 16. During his 20s he travelled to Australia before returning to Britain and forming the British Insulated and Helsby Cable Company. In 1905 he began to assemble cars to the design of George Ville. Only 5 of these were produced before the company moved into car hire, sales, driving tuition and other automotive activities. On 27th October 1906 it would become the Crosville Motor Company and in 1910 it acquired Albion charabanc. On 12th January 1923 George Crosland Taylor died and was succeeded by his son, Claude, as chairman of his company
