Established in 1926 as the National Society of Non Smokers, the group became known as QUIT following attainment of charitable status in 1983. Throughout its existence, the group engaged in a range of campaigns against smoking, and provided guidance and support for people wishing to stop smoking. The group dissolved in 2018.
