(1911 - 1988) Machine Room Supervisor

Vivienne Evelyn Tappin, born Vivian Evelyn Tappin, was a machine room supervisor in the Royal Engineers Record and Pay Office based in Brighton. She initially worked as a punch and verifier operator but was later promoted to the Machine Room before becoming the supervisor. When new equipment was introduced into the office it was her responsibility to learn the new system and would often attend courses on this subject.
