Airbus Defence and Space

Airbus Defence and Space is a division of the Airbus Group responsible for its defence and space activities. It was formed in July 2013 during a restructuring of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company and was made up the former Airbus Military, Astrium and Cassidian divisions. It is made up of 4 divisions: Military Aircraft, Space Systems, Communications, Intelligence and Security, and Unmanned Aerial Systems, with a group headquarters in Taufkirchen, Germany. The company as a whole employs around 40,000 people based in 35 countries.

In March 2016 it sold its defence electronics business to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and the following year to Airbus Group as a whole was reorganised. This led to Airbus Defence and Space becoming an operating division of Airbus SE. In April 2022 DSI Datensicherheit was acquired.
