The French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) is a French publically funded research organisation. It was formed on the 18th October 1945. It researches into the areas of energy, defense and security, information technologies, and health technologies. It is a board headed by the general administrator and advised by the high commissioner for atmoic energy.

It has 4 directorates, or divisions: Energies division (DES), Technological research division (DRT), Fundamental research division (DRF), and the Military applications division (DAM).

It is headquartered in Paris and in Gif-sur-Yvette, France.
