RWE (Rheinisch-Westfälisches Elektrizitätswerk Aktiengesellschaft)
The RWE (Rheinisch-Westfälisches Elektrizitätswerk Aktiengesellschaft) was founded in 1898 and is a German multinational energy company. It generates and trades in electricity. RWEs nuclear operations began in 1961, and they notably owned Biblis nuclear plant. However, a German government policy required all nuclear power stations to be closed by 2022, so RWE began a restructuring in 2016 to reduce the groups exposure to nuclear decommissioning costs.
It is now the world's number two company in offshore wind power generation and Europe's third largest company in renewable energy.
It is headquartered in Essen, Germany.
