Motor Panels (Coventry) Ltd
Motor Panels (Coventry) Ltd was a car body manufacturer that was established in 1920, initially under the name of Panels (Coventry) Ltd. It would change its name to Motor Panels (Coventry) Ltd in 1925 and move to larger premises in 1933. At this time the company also became involved in the production of aircraft fuel tanks.
In 1937 a holding company, Motor Panels (Holdings) Ltd, was registered which would act as a parent company. This was dissolved in 1939 and Motor Panels (Coventry) Ltd was registered in its place. In 1942 the company became part of the Owen Group.
During the Second World War and its aftermath the company would see an increase in production and was involved in special projects, including the construction of the Bluebird land speed record car. During the 1970s it was involved in the construction of standardised lorry cabs.
In 1991 Motor Panels (Coventry) Ltd became part of the Mayflower Corporation.
