County Borough of Bradford
The County Borough of Bradford, was established in 1888 when the previous municipal borough had its status changed. In 1897 the borough was given city status and its boundaries were extended in 1930 and 1937 to include parts of the surrounding areas. In 1974 the existing borough was abolished under the 1972 Local Government Act. It would be merged with Municipal Borough of Keighley, the urban districts of Baildon, Bingley, Denholme, Ilkley, Shipley and Silsden, along with part of Queensbury and Shelf Urban District and part of Skipton Rural District to form the Metropolitan Borough of Bradford.
