The South Eastern Gas Board was established on 1st May 1949 as part of the nationalised gas industry, reporting the Ministry of Fuel and Power. It covered Kent and parts of London, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex. On 31st December 1972 it would be dissolved and became part the British Gas Corporation.
