Local Agricultural Prize Society Committee

The Local Agricultural Prize System Committee was established in December 1883 by the North Tipperary Farming Society to award prizes to the best managed farms in the area. The aim of this was to encourage new processes to be adopted in the hope that it would improve the local economy of Nenagh. It also hoped to assist farmers in obtaining loans from the Board of Works for improvements and to encourage local cottage industries. It produced an annual report on its acitivities until at least 1892 during which time its secretary was Thomas Rochford.
