Bayerisches National-museum
The Bayerisches Nationalmuseum was founded in 1855 by Bavarian King Maximilian II. It displays art from Late Antiquity up to Art Nouveau Period, illustrating the cultural history of Europe from a Bavarian perspective. In 1900 it moved into a new home, a distinct building complex on Munich´s Prinzregentenstrasse. Since 1971, the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum has established several branch museums in various locations throughout Bavaria, dedicated to individual themes of art and cultural history.
