Rudolph Berndt was born 23 February 1838 in Seifhennersdorf and died on 14 February 1919 in Klotzsche. He was a German educator and director of the Chemnitz Technical State Schools from 1885 until his retirement in 1908. During his term in office, the engineering laboratory was built in 1895, one of the first of its kind in Germany.
