Civica Scuola Superiore Femminile di Milano
The Civic High School for Girls of Milan was founded on 23 May 1861 by Carlo Tenca after he proposed creating a such a school to prepare girls to contribute to progress in a free modern society. The school received rizes and recognitions in many national and international exhibitions, in particular the Progress medal, received in 1875 at the National Exhibition in Vienna. In 1886 the school was named after Alessandro Manzoni. From 1978 it was also open to male pupils.
