AVRO 504 Club
The AVRO 504 Club was established in 1950 by J.C.C. Taylor, then Shell aviation manager and a former A.V. Roe & Co Ltd apprentice and 504 pilot, Sir Roy Dobson and A.V. Roe's then public relations officer, Philip Kidson. The members included all the former apprentices who had worked with Sir Alliott Verdon Roe himself, as well as each year a newly inducted "top apprentice" from the company. The Club held an annual dinner at which a 504 Cup would be presented to the newest apprentice member or someone recognised for outstanding achievement in the field of aviation. The last dinner held by the Club is believed to have been held in 2011.
