Union Railways (South) Limited

Union Railways (South) commenced trading on 18th February 1999 to act on behalf of London and Continental Railways (L&CR) to design and construct phase 1 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) between Cheriton and Fawham Junction. Although the company was owned by L&CR Railtrack (UK) Limited controlled the right to appoint directors.

It took over the work undertaken by Channel Tunnel Rail Link Limited, which had also been known as Union Railways. Once it began operations the new company oversaw the work of Rail Link Engineering. It was contracted to sell phase 1 of CTRL to Railtrack (UK) Limited when it was completed. When operations began on section 1 on 28th September 2003 Union Railways (South) ceased operations.
