Originally from Glasgow, Karl Denver (original name Angus Murdo McKenzie) had a string of hits in the 1960s which included 'Wimoweh' and 'Never Goodbye' (an entry in A Song for Europe in 1962). In 1989, then living in Stockport, Denver collaborated with the Happy Mondays on their track 'Lazyitis (One Armed Boxer)'. He also released two singles under Factory Records label 'Wimoweh '89' and 'Indambinig Zimbu Shengali'.
In 1993 his final album 'Just Loving You' was released and by mid-1998 a new album was being recorded. However, Denver died of a brain tumour in December 1998 before the album could be completed.
