W H Bailey & Co
William Henry Bailey inherited his father's company, John Bailey & Co, in 1865, on his father's retirement. In 1876, the company name changed to W H Bailey & Co. The company manufactured steam pumps, ram pumps, regulating valves, pyrometers, barometers, fire engines, tide recorders, gas jet motors, lubricators, turnstiles, clocks and steam gauges from its premises at Albion Works, Salford.
The company opened new works at Hall Bank, Patricroft, in 1885, and in 1889 became a limited company, W H Bailey & Co Ltd.
On the death of Sir William H Bailey in 1913, the company changed its name again, to Sir W H Bailey & Co Ltd.
