Group Systems (Keracolor) Ltd
Group Systems (Keracolour) Ltd, based in Northwich, Cheshire was founded by designer and businessman Arthur Bracegirdle and television engineer Howard Taylor in 1970. The firm manufactured television sets, initially using the Decca series 10 chassis in its Keracolor-designed chassis. The design was conceived of in 1968, and shows the influence of Sixties Modernism.
The first cabinets were fibreglass, made by Waterside Plastic of Todmorden. An initial run of one hundred sets were assembled in Arthur Bracegirdle's garage, before production moved to a factory at Middlewich Road, Northwich, Cheshire, in 1970. The first sets were sold through Harrods in London.
Production switched to plastic and the range of televisions expanded. The company also diversified into plastic mouldings for Lotus and Ford Capri cars, Christmas decorations and audio equipment. Production ceased in 1977.
