F S Cooper Ltd

F S Cooper Ltd was an iron founders based at the Dolphin Foundry on the south side of Chapeltown Street, Ancoats, Manchester. It is known to have been in existence between 1882 and 1961. When Managing Director Charles Drake Cooper died in 1958 he left instructions in his will that each employee of the company with at least a year's service be paid £1.00 for every six months they had spent with the firm, up to a maximum of £15.00. In a classified advertisement for an iron moulder published in 1960, the company is described as a 'small, jobbing foundry.'
