Daniel Henry Eatock was born on the 8th September 1908 in Daisy Hill, Westhoughton, Lancashire. He was the eldest son of Henry Eatock and Elizabeth Grundy who Resided at 10 St. James Street, Daisy Hill. On his marriage to Emily Croft of Atherton, Daniel Eatock moved to Tyldesley Road, Atherton and had two daughters.

Daniel's father Henry Eatock, a Calico Printer, was the manager of Green Vale Calico Print Works, Daisy Hill, until the closure of the works c1920s.

Daniel Eatock attended Hindley and Abram Grammar School. He became a Calico Printer at Green Vale and studied for City and Guild Diplomas in Bleaching, Dying and Printing at Bolton Technical College and Manchester College of Advanced Technology (UMIST).

On closure of Green Vale and after a period of unemployment he worked at Hardcastle’s Calico print Works in Bradshaw Bolton. He returned to Hardcastle’s after service as RAF photographer in the Second World War, being demobbed in 1946.

In 1954 or 1955 Daniel Eatock was appointed as University Teacher in the Department of Polymer and Fibre Science UMIST. He lectured in Textile Technology until his retirement c1975-1976. Whilst at UMIST he worked as a consultant to the Textile Industry and amongst the many notable companies who employed him as a consultant were The International Wool Secretariat and Courtaulds.

Daniel Henry Eatock died on the 1st January 1984 at the age of 76.
