1869 - William Luson Thomas founds The Graphic newspaper. 1889 - Thomas and his company, H. R. Baines and Co, publishes the Daily Graphic, which was the first daily illustrated newspaper. 1900 - William Luson Thomas dies, and his son Carmichael Thomas runs the company.
