Traded at 12 Blewitt's Buildings, Fetter Lane, London, England (1802-22). Took over from father John Allan (w.1790-4). In 1810 James Allan was awarded the gold medal of the Society for the Encouragement of Arts Manufacturers and Commerce (now the Royal Society of Arts) for his dviding engine.
