Alfred Fennings (d. 1900) opened the Golden Key Pharmacy in 1840 selling medicines for serious ailments such as typhoid and cholera as well as for more minor complaints such as colds. In 1850 he moved his business to the Isle of Wight. After his death in 1900, the business was administered by Trustees, with all the profits going to a children's charity. By 1984, the business was operating from Horsham, with a distribution depot at Ashton-under-Lyne, address 46 London Rd, Horsham, West Sussex, RH12 1AY
