Finnish telecommunications multinational Nokia Corporation established in 1967 on merger of Nokia AB, Finnish Cable Works and Finnish Rubber Works (which had been joinly owned since 1922) specialising in rubber, cable, forestry, electronics and power generation; concentrated on mobile phone technology from 1992, divesting itself of other manufacturing concerns during 1990s; world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones (2009), also producing personal computers and IT equipment.
