Uher 1953 - 1974
UHER Werke Munchen KG, more commonly known as Uher, was a German manufacturer of electronic equipment. Established between 1952 and 1953 as a GmbH Ltd before being converted into a KG (limited partnership) in 1957 which saw its name changed. Best known for its open-reel tape recorders that were seen as a more affordable alternative to Nagra for the broadcast and film industry. As digital recording gained in popularity, Uher declined and was eventually sold off in 1974 to Assmann GmbH. There are two parts of the company that still exist with one part focused on informatics, and the other on IT security.
