Hubert Cecil Booth was an engineer, who invented one of the first vacuum cleaners. He founded the British Vacuum Cleaner & Engineering Company, later Goblin, which first sold cleaning services (when Booth's vacuums were large enough to be horse-drawn), and later moved into selling domestic machines, largely under the brand of Goblin, along with a number of other domestic appliances, including the famous Goblin Teasmades.
