1817 - apprenticed to the London engraver George Cooke. 1823 - moved to Paris where he became the protégé and companion of the British artist Richard Parkes Bonington. 1833 - exhibited seven watercolours at the Paris Salon. 1841- elected a full member of the New Watercolour Society. 1842 - published Original Views of London as It Is.
