Son of Sir Harry Stephen Meysey-Thompson; 1905 - created Baron Knaresborough; Educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge and was a Liberal MP for Knaresborough, Brigg, and Handsworth. He succeeded his father on the NER board in 1874. He was Deputy Chairman for NER from 1906 to 1912 and Chairman from 1912 to 1922.
