James Inglis

1875, Inglis was appointed as Assistant Dock Engineer, then Resident Engineer for the Millbay Docks, Plymouth. He was later knighted. As Sir James he became the General Manager and Consulting Engineer for the Great Western Railway. He designed and built the Batten Breakwater, original West Wharf at Millbay and the late Victorian Fish Market on the Barbican.
