Frederick Albert Winsor
1799 - Settled in Britain; Interested in gas technology and economics. On the 4th June 1807, to celebrate the King’s birthday, Winsor staged a public demonstration along the garden wall between Carlton House and St James’s Park, with gas lamps, fed from an iron pipe from two 'carbonizing iron furnaces'. Despite Winsor's inventions and innovations, he died in poverty in 1830.
