Traded at Rotten Row (1830-43), 14 Iron Gate (1835) & 21 Irongate (1843-62), all Derby, England. Related to Edward Davis (w.1833-43), succeeded by John Davis & Son. After initially working for his uncle, Gabriel Davis (w.1822-47), in Leeds John began to open his own temporary shops in Derby, eventually opening a permanent shop in 1844
