1892 - onwards: built high-quality bicycles. As reputation spread, he started making petrol engines for tandem bicycles. George Hendee asked Hedstrom to build a mass-production powerered bicycle prototype. Partnership soon evolved into Indian Motocycle Company. 1903 - record speed of 56mph on an Indian, on Ormond Beach, Florida. 1916 - last year that Hedstrom designed the engines for Indian motorcycles. His designs were also used under license by other early American manufacturers.
