Founded in 1923 by Walt and Roy Disney as an animation studio, the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio. Reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Became the Walt Disney Corporation in 1986. Headquarters are located in Burbank California. Best known for its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, Disney also runs the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family, publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions and owns and licenses eleven theme parks around the world.
