In 1910 George Ruddle bought Langham Brewery. G Ruddle & Co Limited was registered in 1945. Everards bought the company in the 1970s and then Grand Metropolitan PLC bought the company in 1986. A year later the name was changed to Ruddles Brewery Limited. In 1990 it was sold to Grolsh. Morland subsequently bought the company and transferred brewing to Abingdon. When Greene King bought Morland, brewing transferred to Bury St Edmunds. The Rutland Bitter name has now been protected and is brewed (since 2010) by The Grainstore Brewery, Oakham.
