Founded 1918 as manufacturer of amateur radio equipment in Chicago; incorporated 1923; renamed Zenith Electronics Corporation in 1984; filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1999. Formed Zenith Data Sytems in 1979 as computer subsiduary, which was sold to Groupe Bull in 1989.
