1924 Ross Siragusa developed Transformer Corps of America into a successful company selling battery chargers for radios, using Admiral brand; bankrupt in 1929; founded Continental Radio & Television Corporation in 1934, developed the Admiral brand of radios and televisions; branched out into manufacture of domestic appliances including refrigerators in 1950s; one of first companies to produce colour television receivers; one of the biggest producers of television sets in America during the 1950s; sold to Rockwell International Corporation in 1979; Admiral brand name used by Zenith during 1990s.
