Founded 1894 by partnership of Alfred Stromberg and Androv Carlson, manufacturing telephone equipment; one of four big telephone companies dominating United States until after second world war; also manufactured military communications systems, intercom and public address systems and commmercial radio and television receivers, loudspeakers, microphones and amplifiers; purchased 1904 by Home Telephone Company; purchased in 1955 by General Dynamics; broken up and sold off in 1982.
