Studied at Kingston School of Art (1949-1950) and the Royal College of Art (1951-1954); member of 'Kitchen Sink' art movement; included in the British Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 1956; won first prize in the Junior Section of the John Moores Liverpool exhibition in 1957; designed sets for the film 'The Horse's Mouth' (1957-1958); went out of fashion in the 1960s; turned to painting portraits of 'names' (tycoons, businessmen, television stars etc.); also wrote several novels.
