Originally an American–Canadian company making radio sets for the British market based upon contemporary American models; after second world war became Ferguson Radio Corporation; taken over by Thorn Electrical Industries in 1956; Ferguson brand name continued in use by Thorn through its subsidiary British Radio Corporation Ltd., then later by EMI, until brand sold to French electronics firm Thomson, still in use today (2009) as Ferguson Electronics.
