Paillard-Bolex 1939


c. 1930 - founded in Switzerland; most notable products are cine cameras in 16 mm and Super 16 mm formats; Bolex cameras were particularly important for early television news, nature films, documentaries and the avant garde, and are still favoured by many animators today;

1924 - Ukranian engineer Jacques Bogopolsky of Geneva, Switzerland, patents ‘BOL-cinegraphe’;

1928 - production of Bolex cine cameras and projectors begins; company sold to Paillard SA, becoming Paillard-Bolex.
