Founded 1928 in Salo, Finland, by Nordell and Koskinen, who supplied crystal radios for the new Finish broadcasting network. Company renamed Salora in 1945 (Salo+RAdio). Began producing black and white televisions in 1957. Joint venture with Nokia in 1978 under the name Mobira to produce mobile phones. In 1981 began manufacture of computer monitors. In 1982 the mobile phone division was sold to Nokia, and in 1984 Nokia bought a majority of Salora shares and Salora began manufacturing Nokia televisions for the European market. In 1992 Nokia took over Salora entirely, but in 1996 sold the company to Semitech. However, Semitech went bankrupt in 2000 and Salora was sold to Otrum, and the name changed to Finlux oy. In 2005 Finlux oy closed its factory in Finland, and the Salor brand name was sold to Albers Trading B.V.
