On leaving school worked as an animator at Superads, then between 1930 and 1935 for Alexander Korda's studio at Elstree; begain work as a cartoonist on Reynolds Weekly in 1937; began drawing for the Sunday Express in 1943, and latter the Daily Express; retired in 1989.
