Educated in London and Paris; joined Fabian Society in 1907; help found art and literature magazine The Neolith; contributed to Punch, The Strand Magazine and The Graphic; distinguished service in France and Belgium during first world war; worked as official war artist; produced a series of lithographs for the 1924 British Empire Exhibition; designed posters for London Underground and the Labour Party.
