founded in Dresden in 1908, renamed Balda-Werk Max Baldeweg in 1913; Balda produced cameras for other companies that were then resold under their own brand; after the second world war the company was nationalised by the East German government and named Belca-Werk in 1951; Max Baldeweg fled to West Germany to start a new company, Balda-Werk Bűnde.
