SEE ALSO ÉCLAIR; Originally a French camera manufacturer, Eclair was acquired in 1968 by British film producer Harry Saltzman, who moved the company to England and founded Éclair-Debrie (UK) Ltd; the French side of the company was taken over by Soremec-Cehess and production was resumed in France. English Eclair cameras were produced in parallel with the French ones until the Éclair-Debrie (UK) Ltd ceased activities in 1973. The company was sold to Aaton S.A. in 1986 who ceased all production of the cameras, continuing with the film processing and post-production side of the business.
