Founded shortly after the end of the second world war in Japan as Sun Koki KK, successor company to lens manufacturer Gojo Koki Seisakusho which ceased activities in 1945; operated as Sun Optical Co. Ltd. in the 1950s and 1960s; name changed to Gotō Sun in the early 1980s; ceased trading sometime in after 1983.
