Joseph (Josef) Breitenbach, photographer, photojournalist and portraitist, born Munich in 1896; moved to Paris in 1933 where established school of photography; early use of colour, photocollages; emigrated to America in 1941, naturalised in 1946; taught photography at New School for Social Research, New York, 1948-1949; worked in Korea 1952-1953.
