Noted portrait photographer born Munich 1878; parents moved to Vienna soon after he was born; educated Paris and Munich; moved to London to work for Deutsche Bank, shortly afterwards in 1903 given first camera; became member of Royal Photographic Society in 1907; co-founded London Salon of Photography in 1910; photographed many famous figures of the twentieth century, but also took fashion, landscape and travel photographs.
