Formed in 1954 by The National Federation of Women’s Institutes as 'Keep Britain Tidy'. in the 1960's they became an independent organisation; in 1984 they became a limited company and in 1987 changed their name to 'Tidy Britain Group'. In 2001 the name became ‘ENCAMS’ – short for Environmental Campaigns but this ended in 2005 when they began to focus solely on England. In 2009 the name reverted back to 'Keep Britain Tidy'.
